Ham Radio Deluxe DM780 setup for RTTY

Ok at this point the radio is expecting FSK signaling via the first serial USB port ie the lowest number. In my setup the standard port is on port 12 and the enhanced port in on 13. All of the serial CAT commands flow between HRD and the radio on the enhanced port. While CW is via DTR and FSK keying is via RTS both on the standard port.

PTT

First change is to setup PTT to use HRD for keying via CAT commands. This is critical, if you don’t do this a conflict will occur when keying is attempted.

Next just while we are in the neighbor lets setup CW keying, since the radio is setup for CW DTR keying, we need the same setting here.

Finally lets setup FSK keying, it is pretty simple if DTR is being used for CW keying FSK keying will use the other pin which is RTS.

If you get this wrong the radio will operate in QSK RTTY mode, it is pretty strange and an clue that you need to change this setting.

Restart DM780 and you should be good to go.
